(Pavillion, WY) – The Lady Cougars evened their overall record to 8-8 with a 44-19 win over visiting Class 1-A Saratoga last Saturday in Pavillion.
Wind River’s full-court, “Chaos” style pressure defense forced double-digit turnovers from the Lady Panthers in the opening half. The Cougars limited Saratoga to just two first-period points and just a basket and a free throw in the second.
Wind River led 24-5 at the half.
They eventually built a 36-9 lead by the end of the third period.
Madi Arneach and Jonae Spoonhunter were the one-two scoring punch for the Lady Cougars as usual, with Arneach scoring 18, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Spoonhunter tallying 14 with a single 3-point shot.
It will be an interesting weekend with Wind River hosting Southwest 2-A rival Wyoming Indian on Friday and Wright, from the East 2-A on Saturday.
