(Pavillion, WY) – The Lady Cougars split at home last weekend, entertaining Kemmerer and Big Piney in Southwest 2-A Conference action. Wind River handled Kemmerer 41-21 but fell in a close one with the Lady Punchers 50-49.
Against Kemmerer the Lady Cougars held the Lady Rangers to single-digit scoring in the first three periods, including just a pair of points in the third.
Wind River had three girls in double-figure scoring, paced by a dozen each from Natalie Walker and Jonah Spoonhunter and 11 by Emma Miller.
Big Piney was a brutal game with hard fouls on both ends of the floor, neither team set any free throw shooting records though they had ample opportunities at the line.
Wind River connected on just seven of 21 attempts from the line in a game where a single free throw would have made all the difference. Big Piney wasn’t much better, converting just 12 of 27.
Spoonhunter paced Wind River with 15, while Walker and Tanaya Burnett each scored 12.
