(Fort Washakie, WY) – The Little Snake River Rattlers made their first appearance ever at Fort Washakie in a Class 1-A Southwest Conference girls’ basketball game early Saturday afternoon, and the visiting Lady Rattlers put on a shooting exhibition to run away with an 89-55 win.
Little Snake River’s pressure in the opening two periods had the Lady Rattlers in a transition game off turnovers that saw them pour in 53 first-half points, largely on breakaway layups.
The Lady Eagles struggled offensively in the opening half but hit a wide variety of mid-range and shots from beyond the arc in the final two periods. Fort Washakie hit five 3-pointers in the game.
Hayden Hereford had the long-range touch, hitting four 3-pointers while leading the Lady Eagles in scoring with 18.
Aleah Wallowingbull and Izelee Hereford finished with a dozen and 10 points, respectively.
The Eagles host the Eagles from the other side of the Wind River Reservation with St. Stephen’s coming to Fort Washakie for a Wednesday evening tilt.
