Fremont County’s smallest high school is the only one to emerge from regional tournament play and advance to the All-Class State Volleyball Championships at the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper later this week.
The Lady Rams from Dubois High School entered last weekend’s Class 1-A West Regional at the Bob Carey Memorial Fieldhouse as co-champions with the Burlington Lady Huskies. They ended the tournament Saturday afternoon with the fourth seed from the west entering an opening round state tournament game this Thursday at 1 p.m. against the Class 1-A East Champion Hulett Lady Red Devils.
Dubois opened the regional tournament against Saratoga at 11:30 AM on Friday morning in the Auxiliary Gym. The Lady Rams took a close four-game match over the Lady Panthers. Dubois dropped the first game 26-24 but rallied to win the next three 25-23, 25-19, and 25-19.
That sent the Lady Rams to a 6 p.m. semi-final against Southwest 1-A Champion and eventually West Regional Champion Little Snake River.
The Lady Rattlers beat the Lady Rams 25-11, 25-13, 25-17, sending Dubois to the elimination bracket Saturday morning.
Saturday at 9:30 am, the Lady Rams swept Riverside for the third time this season in three games, 25-18, 25-17, and 25-22, punching their ticket to the state tournament in the process.
Their final match in regional play was against co-Northwest Champion Burlington, a team they split with in the regular season.
The Lady Huskies had the upper hand in the bumper match, taking a 25-19, 25-15, 25-17 decision.
Hulett is 23-6 on the season, and 7-1 in Northeast 1-A Conference play. There are a couple of common opponents between Dubois and Hulett. Dubois beat Saratoga, and Hulett dropped a tournament game to the Lady Panthers. Hulett also defeated Burlington in a two-game tournament match earlier in the season.
