(Riverton, WY) – It felt more like a late October football playoff game than a soccer match played on Cinco de Mayo in Riverton Tuesday night. Under frigid conditions with a storm moving in about 15 minutes into the opening half, the Lady Wolverines entertained the Fillies from Natrona County Tuesday afternoon.
In a defensive tilt, Natrona County took the game 1-0 on a goal by Lexi Laughrey at the 63-minute mark.
The game was indicative of Class 4-A play this season. Teams are very balanced, as Riverton head coach Aziz Waheed said, “Everyone is tough.”
What is tougher, is the fight against cancer, and this was the annual “Pink Game” played by the Lady Wolverines and Wolverines in a fundraising drive to help members of the community fighting this dreaded disease.
There were fundraising goals set that were matched by donors for goals scored, assists, and other game-related events. More fun were matching funds given for other events, such as Lady Wolverine assistant coaches Jarret Watson and Reed Axthelm doing dual somersaults after team introductions. They weren’t quite an Olympic score of “10,” but they pulled the stunts off well.

This year, organizers elected to help a fellow member of the Riverton soccer community, Mike Becker, but according to the event GoFundMe page, there was “a twist.”
“While Mike and his entire family were truly humbled and honored to have this year’s Pink Game dedicated to his fight, he graciously declined any financial support,” the page bio states. “Instead, he encouraged organizers to find a family who could benefit even more from the help. When Mike learned about another family facing this difficult battle, he knew exactly where that support should go.”
The funds will now go toward Cameron and Jaci Cuttlers, who have lived in Riverton since 2015. Cameron was heavily involved in high school athletics in Nebraska before moving to Riverton where he worked as a track and field official.
“In November 2025, their family received unexpected news when Cameron was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer that affects the bone marrow,” the page bio explains, and since that time has had to travel to Casper at least once each week for immunotherapy treatments and oral chemotherapy.
Over the last four years of the event, $54,000 has been raised.
The donations for this year’s Pink Game will be totaled early next week by Kristen Paskett. There is still an active online auction for a bench that will close on Friday.
