On July 9th, 2018 Lander Police were dispatched to the VFW for a report of a burglary. The building had shattered glass from a door that goes to the east side patio, shards of glass, and a gray rock underneath the pool table.
A VFW employee told officers she noticed there were several missing whiskey bottles.
Based on video evidence and a tip, LPD officers spoke with two people over the next few days that they believed were involved in the theft.
Ultimately, 19-year-old Eric C’Bearing was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit burglary.
Documents show C’Bearing and possibly other boys who were minors at the time of the incident, broke the door and entered the building, taking approximately 13 bottles of alcohol.
Conspiracy to commit burglary is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
On February 19, C’Bearing waived his preliminary hearing. It will be transferred to District Court at a later date for arraignment.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
