The Lander Valley High School boys and girls basketball teams are headed to the 3A/4A state basketball tournament beginning Thursday.
The Lander boys punched their ticket last weekend at regionals in Worland, and were crowned 3A West regional champions. Lander knocked off Powell in the regional championship game 74-64. They also beat Worland, and Lyman to qualify for state.
The Tigers take the west’s top seed to the state tournament and will match-up with 4th seeded Newcastle Thursday at 9:00 p.m. in the Casper Events Center.
The Lander girls take the 4th seed from the west into state after falling in the third-place game at regionals to Powell 46-40. Lander beat Big Piney and Pinedale, but lost to Lyman at regionals in Worland.
The Lady Tigers open with a game against the east’s top seed, Douglas, at 6:00 p.m. Thursday from the Casper Events Center.
Both Lander teams play at Casper College, win or lose, Friday. Brackets are posted below.
Riverton boys and girls teams finished their year after both going 0-2 at regionals in Cody. The RHS boys lost to Star Valley and Jackson, the girls lost to Star Valley and Cody.
