(Lander, WY) – The Lander City Council gave City Treasurer Charri Lara a round of applause this week for being named Treasurer of the Year by the Wyoming Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers.
Assistant Mayor RaJean Strube Fossen announced the award during a regular city council meeting Tuesday, congratulating Lara for the achievement.
“Charri’s dedication to financial fidelity, transparency and efficiency have been invaluable in coordinating the City of Lander’s annual budget process with an aim towards keeping our staff benefits affordable and attractive while still funding all of our maintenance and capital improvement needs,” Strube Fossen said, reading from an award letter.
The letter notes that Lara “has advocated for automation of (Lander’s) purchase orders, fleet management, grant management and other financial systems, which has saved uncountable administrative staff over the last three years.”
She also serves as the grant manager for “almost all of our state and federal grants,” Strube Fossen said, and Lara helped manage the 2010 and 2017 “federal FEMA flooding disaster” in Lander.
More recently, Strube Fossen said Lara’s “skills were crucial in getting Lander a multi-year, multi-project, $44 million SLIB financing (agreement) for the upcoming water and sewer and equipment SRF project.”
“Charri you are so much more than a treasurer to us,” Strube Fossen said. “We appreciate you helping Lander’s success.”
