The LVHS Girls Swim and Dive Team was victorious in both its meets last week. On Thursday, Lander traveled to Green River for a dual and defeated the host team 127 to 58. On Friday, LVHS took part in the invite in Riverton and came out victorious against four other teams.
In Green River, Lander captured first place in ten of the twelve events, including all three relay events. Lander’s individual event winners were: And Rudd (200 Yard Freestyle), Vayda Havens (200 Yard IM), Brooklyn White (diving), Katy Anderson (100 Yard Butterfly), Sara Kearns (100 Yard Freestyle, Daegan Reinhardt (500 Yard Freestyle), and Chayse Denton (100 Yard Backstroke).
In Riverton, Lander again won all three relay events and took top individual places in six events. Individual event winners for Lander were: Katy Anderson (200 Yard Freestyle), Daegan Reinhardt (200 Yard IM and 100 Yard Freestyle), Vayda Havens (50 Yard Freestyle and 100 yard Butterfly), and Emily Plaisted (100 Yard Backstroke).
Also scoring points for Lander were: Chayse Denton, Isabella Gallo, Cira Hampton, Brinlee Heller, Ruby Johnson, Sara Kearns, Eden Kemp, Liv Ooten, Ang Rudd, Brooklyn White, and Iris Woltman. Athletes scored points at this meet by finishing in the top seven places.
Lander also qualified another athlete for the state meet. Senior Brianna Else qualified in the 50 Yard Freestyle with her leadoff leg of 28.66 seconds during the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay in Riverton. Else joins 15 other teammates who have earned the right to wear the green parkas this season.
Head Coach Erik DeClue, “was extremely happy with how hard [the girls] swam both days. They’re tired and sore, yet we had a lot of season bests and new qualifiers.”
You can see the team in action at home this week on Friday at 4:00 pm for their homecoming meet. They then travel to Pinedale on Saturday.
