(Lander, WY) – With profound sadness, the family, council, and staff of the City of Lander announce the unexpected passing of Mayor Monte Richardson on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025.
Mayor Richardson dedicated his life to public service, serving as mayor since 2019 following many years of service as a councilmember.
His contributions to Lander are immeasurable, and his legacy will endure through the countless lives he touched.
Known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion for the community, he will be deeply missed.
“This is a heartbreaking day for Mayor Richardson’s family, the City of Lander, city council, and our community,” Council President Julia Stuble said. “We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
