(Gillette, WY) – The Lander Legends Legion Baseball team wrapped up a strong run at the Legion B State Tournament in Gillette, WY, ultimately falling short in the championship game.
Lander opened the tournament with an impressive 8–0 shutout over the Gillette Renegades, thanks to dominant pitching from Jacob Bush and William Oland. At the plate, Grady Eagle, Cash Chance, Dane Kramer, and Jacob Bush led the offense, combining for all of Lander’s RBIs in the win.
In game two, the Legends rolled past the Casper Roughnecks 15–5. Cash Chance sparked the lineup with two doubles and three hits overall, while Dane Kramer drove in four runs. Every Lander player recorded a hit, underscoring the team’s depth. Jace Hammond turned in a solid start on the mound, with William and Isaac Oland finishing the job.
The semifinal against the Casper Wildcatters proved to be a tough outing, with Lander falling 5–18. But the team regrouped Sunday morning and came out swinging in a 16–6 victory over Cheyenne Post 6 Prep. Jacob Bush set the tone early with a key three-run triple to open the scoring. Once again, Cash Chance and Dane Kramer led the offense, and Jace Hammond added two RBIs late in the game to enforce the 10-run rule. William Oland pitched a complete game to seal the win.
That victory set up a rematch with the Wildcatters in the championship game. Jace Hammond delivered five strong innings on the mound, with Gage Toups coming in for relief. Despite the solid pitching effort, Lander’s bats were quiet, and the team came up short in the title game.
The Lander Legends Legion Program would like to thank American Legion Post 33 for the support to make this successful season happen. The overall record for the 17u lander team was 24-5.
