(Lander, WY) – Team Caprinae Crowned Champions of the 82nd running of the legendary One-Shot Antelope Hunt; Wyoming Team comes in a close second. Hunters participating in this year’s event were very successful with 17 out of 24 successfully harvesting an Antelope with one shot, one of the best performances seen in the history of the hunt.
Four teams had all three members of their team all score one shot harvests so the winning team was determined based on the cumulative time of all three to make their shot.
The first place Team was Team Caprinae with team members Gray Thornton, Matt Besko and Glen Pyne with a combined time of 1 hour and 13 minutes. Coming in second just behind the winning team was the mighty Wyoming Team led by Governor Gordon along with Bob Budd, Director of the Wyoming Wildlife Trust, and Lander Hunter Allen Kerkhove with a combined time of 1 hour and 59 minutes.
The other two teams with a perfect score, Team SCI (2 hours and 32 minutes) and the Western Sportsmen (4 hours and 3 minutes) followed in 3rd and 4th place out of 8 total teams competing.
The event concluded on Saturday night with a Victory Banquet at the Lander Community Center where the 2026 Champions were crowned. As part of the three day event, over $325,000 was raised through fund raising efforts to benefit the pivotal role Water for Wildlife plays in wildlife conservation in Wyoming and the west as well as conservation education in the Lander community.
