Our Pet of the Week for 7/19/24 is a Staff Favorite!
Amethyst is a stunning German Shepherd/White Swiss Shepherd mix and she’s has been through a lot. After spending months in the shelter system she’s incredibly scared and confused. Despite receiving excellent veterinary care and regular meals, Amethyst is falling to thrive or put on much needed weight. She’s become scared and distrustful. The kennel life is just more than her sweet soul can bear.
When Amethyst arrived at Lander Pet Connection, she clung to the only comfort she could find- her stuffed animal toys, carrying them around, showing them to anyone near. This gentle soul is about 3 years old, mature and calm yet playful. She does well with compatible dog friends, though we think she would not mind being an only dog. There’s even potential for her to coexist peacefully with cats, showing her adaptability and willingness to learn. She is very intelligent and she seems to be intuitive, she is looking for a connection, a special someone to bond with.
In her foster home, Amethyst has already shown exceptional manners – she’s crate trained, she’s polite in the house.
What Amethyst truly craves now is a loving, patient companion who understands her need for stability and security. She’s looking for someone who can appreciate her unique personality and give her the time and space to blossom into the devoted companion she’s meant to be.
