Families dropping off or picking up students at Gannett Peak Elementary are encouraged to review the following information to help ensure a smooth start to the school year.
You may have noticed construction happening around Gannett Peak Elementary School. This work is part of a project to help improve safety and access to the school, including new sidewalks and crossings. While many improvements are complete, not all work will be finished before the first day of school.
Important Notes for Drop-Off and Pick-Up:
Please continue to use the same drop-off and pick-up routes used in the past. A new crosswalk at 5th Street (into the parent drop-off zone) is under construction and not yet ready for pedestrian use. We’ll keep you updated as it opens later this fall.
Some sidewalk areas remain under construction and may be temporarily filled with road base until concrete work is completed.
Several locations around the school will have active work zones with traffic control signs and cones. Efforts are being made to minimize impacts to student drop off and pick up. Please take appropriate precautions.
Safety Measures in Place:
Temporary barriers are being set up around an excavation site at the corner of 7th St. and Canyon St.
A construction worker will be present during drop-off and pick-up times at this location to assist with safety.
Temporary pathways are being installed to help guide pedestrians safely around active construction areas.
