The community is invited to the Lander Wings & Wheels event on Saturday, September 13, from 8 AM to 2 PM at Hunt Field Airport. This free, family-friendly celebration combines classic cars, airplanes, live music, food, and hands-on activities for all ages.
Highlights of the day include:
–Classic Car Show hosted by CarQuest
–Airplane Demonstrations including flour bombing, spot landing, and RC airplane flights
–Young Eagle Flights — free airplane rides for kids ages 8–17, hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Association. Sign up at the Kid’s Hangar.
–Live Music from String Theory and Coop Deville
–Lander Pipe Band performance and National Anthem by Zoe Szymanski
–Kid’s Hangar hosted by the Lander Learning Resource Library with activities, face painting, cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones, and more
Visitors can also enjoy a variety of food trucks, including Troy’s Rollin’ Chuck Wagon, WYO Sips, Ten Tempura, Ruby’s Traveling Pizzaria, Hangry’s, and Shiverzz 307.
The day kicks off at 8 AM with the Civil Air Patrol Color Guard and a pancake breakfast hosted by the Kiwanis Club to benefit the Lander Girls Softball League.
Special Feature Aircraft
This year’s event will showcase the de Havilland DHC-4A Caribou, on loan from the Legacy Flight Museum in Rexburg, Idaho. Serial Number 2 is the oldest flying Caribou in existence, originally used for stress testing during development. Known for its short takeoff and landing (STOL) capability, the Caribou served as a military tactical transport aircraft capable of delivering supplies, equipment, and troops to remote outposts.
