We’ve officially gone international… like, way international.
Lander’s KOVE-AM radio was recently picked up by two DX enthusiasts in Southern Finland – 4,826 miles away!
Jari Luoma and Timo Metso, radio hobbyists from Kotka and Valkeala, reported hearing:
“KOVE Lander 1330 AM and 107.7 FM…”
…on December 2, 2025 at 5:00 a.m. MST (12:00 UTC). Luoma and Metso sent us the brief recording of the transmission, and we were able to confirm it was ours.
The duo operates a remote listening station in an exceptionally quiet location, far from radio interference, roughly 250 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Using a Perseus SDR receiver, they scan the airwaves for distant signals from around the globe. And yes – Lander, Wyoming made the trip across the Atlantic and over the Arctic Circle.
While the Northern Lights weren’t visible at the exact moment they tuned in, Jari and Timo say the aurora was glowing brilliantly during the construction of their listening station – making the whole experience “unforgettable.”
