Update: 5:21 p.m. release from the Albany County Emergency Management team
Firework making materials were located inside a home in Prarie’s Edge subdivision. Emergency responders are working to remove the materials to a safe location.
The evacuation area is being reduced at this time. Residents at 530 Beaufort Spaces 33-35 and 83-95 must REMAIN EVACUATED. All other residents may return home.
Please continue to avoid the evacuation area to allow responders to work.

(Laramie, WY) – The Albany County Sheriff’s Department and Albany County Emergency Management team are notifying residents in a north Laramie neighborhood they need to evacuate their homes immediately.
Around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 2nd the notice was released to residents in the area of North 3rd Street, including neighborhoods along Mitchell Street, N. 7th, Renhsaw, Street, Mill Street, North 4th Street and Beaufort Street.
While the exact cause of the evacuation has not been released by authorities, a message from the Albany County Emergency Management social media pages states, “Due to the presence of potential explosives in the area, an immediate evacuation is required. All personnel and civilians must evacuate to a minimum distance of 300 meters from the incident location at 530 Beaufort St. Please proceed calmly and quickly to the designated evacuation point at the Eppson Center – 1560 N 3rd St, Laramie.
Do not attempt to return to your home or retrieve belongings. Estimated time of re-entry is 10 hours.
Law enforcement and Fire Department are on scene to assist. Your safety is our highest priority.“
