(Wyoming) – The Wyoming Department of Transportation has been forced to close large sections of Interstate 80 Wednesday afternoon due to winter conditions and crashes in the southeastern part of the state.
The conditions have also forced a “rolling closure” for some south central and southwestern portions of eastbound I-80.
According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, multiple crashes between Laramie and Sinclair included approximately 20 vehicles this afternoon. Two people were transported from the interstate via helicopter.
As of 4:00 p.m. I-80 between Rawlins and Cheyenne was closed both directions. Rock Springs to Rawlins was closed eastbound.
WYDOT estimates the stretches should re-open between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
