(Lander, WY) – On Thursday, Sept. 12, the Wyoming Outdoor Council will host Deepening Roots, a festive celebration of the community that makes its conservation work possible. Over live music, food, and refreshments, the organization will share its vision for protecting Wyoming’s lands, wildlife, clean air and water, celebrate community leaders, and showcase its new campus and community meeting space.
“Since joining the Wyoming Outdoor Council in January, communities across the state have graciously hosted me and helped us to deepen the local roots of our conservation efforts,” Carl Fisher, executive director for WOC, said. “It’s been wonderful to make connections and learn how WOC can best serve our communities. Now, I’d love to invite you all to this celebration so that I may return the hospitality.”
WHO: This fun-filled evening is free and open to the public. WOC members, guests, and anyone who is interested in learning about conserving Wyoming’s environment and quality of life is encouraged to attend.
WHAT: Free food and refreshments courtesy of the Wyoming Outdoor Council. Attendees will have the opportunity to contribute to an ongoing collaborative art activity. Live music will include performances from Tom Brady, a surprise appearance by a WOC staff member, and Indigenous singer-songwriter Christian Wallowing Bull.
About Christian Wallowing Bull: With familial relations to the Wind River, as an enrolled member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe, his heart as a storyteller is to represent his own indigenous roots, and to bridge perspective and healing to the lives of those indigenous, as well as non-indigenous. He is a powerful voice in today’s industry. Ever since the humble beginnings of his first album release, “Warrior” in (2020), he has been leaving his growing audience and following in complete awe. With a voice like thunder, he carries an ancestral power in all of his writings.
Additionally, WOC staff will be present to connect with community members, tour people around the building, and share about WOC’s work across the state.
