Geologist and former state legislator David Miller will give a presentation on the Gas Hills Uranium District during the next Wyoming Community Bank Discovery Series event 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at the Riverton Museum, 700 E. Park Ave.
The Gas Hills Uranium District – or “Discovery Hill” – southeast of Riverton was first discovered by Neil and Maxine McNeice in 1953, according to an event description.
During his presentation, Miller will cover “the expansive history, varying companies, and what the uranium industry meant for Riverton, Fremont County, and Wyoming as a whole,” the description states.
The program is free and open to the public.
