Each week, staff at Lander Valley High School nominate a student who has shown outstanding behavior toward their peers and in their academics. At the end of the year, County 10 will award a $500 scholarship to one of the nominated students! Click here to view all nominated students.
Finn Richards was nominated as the Lander Valley High School student of the week by Jaime Basham.
“Mr. Richards is an exceptional student, athlete and person. He consistently works hard in AP Spanish, as he has in all four levels of Spanish. It has been an absolute pleasure watching him grow in his Spanish skills and as a person throughout these past four years. In Spanish, we have a phrase, “¡Ponte las pilas” which essentially translates as ‘Put your batteries in!’ and Mr. Richards continually does this by trying his best in Spanish – and in everything he does.” –Jaime Basham
Finn is planning to attend the University of Wyoming on the Trustees Scholarship. He will be studying Health Sciences.
Finn has earned the Wyoming Seal of Biliteracy. The Wyoming Department of Education gives this award in recognition of students who have attained proficiency in English and one or more additional languages (Spanish) by high school graduation. Finn also received the University of Wyoming Trustees Scholarship which is a full-ride scholarship.
Finn is on the LVHS Swimming and Soccer teams and is also a member of the National Honor Society. In his free time he enjoys spending time outdoors – fishing, hiking and camping.
