Each week, staff at Lander Valley High School nominate a student who has shown outstanding behavior toward their peers and in their academics. At the end of the year, County 10 will award a $500 scholarship to one of the nominated students! Click here to view all nominated students.
Oceanna Skinner was nominated as the Lander Valley High School student of the week by Cami Kostreva.
“Oceanna has been an incredible asset in my lab class and role model for my freshmen students. I never have to ask her to jump in and help; she notices when students need help or things around the classroom that need done, and she immediately acts. She has also gone above and beyond by helping develop a resource of community book talks, taking time outside of class to film and organize the recordings by genre. This is going to be a valuable tool for our entire English department and all of our students.” -Cami Kostreva
After high school, Oceanna plans to go into a Nursing program, but she is not sure where she wants to attend yet. She would like to get her MSN and get into a program for Nurse Practitioners specializing in Women’s Health or a family practice.
She has received Academic Letters, and Blue Ribbons at the Wyoming High School Art Symposium for Pottery. Ocean is also on Student Council and is active in the school plays and musicals. She enjoys camping, hanging out at the lake including canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, tubing. She also enjoys beading, hanging out with friends and family, cooking, baking, watching movies, traveling and is an avid tea drinker.
Vanessa Sorrels is the proud parent of Oceanna.
