Each week, staff at Lander Valley High School nominate a student who has shown outstanding behavior toward their peers and in their academics. At the end of the year, County 10 will award a $500 scholarship to one of the nominated students! Click here to view all nominated students.
Zoe Szymanski was nominated as the Lander Valley High School student of the week by Paul Primrose and… Morgan Hahn.
“Zoe's among the hardest-working students I've encountered. As a freshman in my 9th grade class three years ago, and as a senior in AP Literature this year, Zoe has never failed to show up prepared, motivated, and engaged. Her writing about AP Literature texts reflects a sharp intellect and thoughtful perspective on the world around her.” –Paul Primrose
“Zoe goes above and beyond as a student. She consistently pushes herself towards excellence in her coursework, and brings others along with her via her willingness to contribute to meaningful class discussions, project work, and challenges. Moreover, Zoe demonstrates excellence in citizenship and making her community a better place. Of course, this comes through in her service in a variety of student organizations, but most of all in her daily acts of kindness, tolerance, and genuine care for her fellow Tigers. Whether speaking with positivity and encouragement to others, mentorship, or simply leaving a space better than she found it, Zoe no doubt makes LVHS a better place to learn!” -Morgan Hahn
After high school Zoe wants to run a lot of marathons. She also plans attend BYU’s Nursing program then attend the doctoral program to become a CRNA.
Zoe was recently named as a Daniel’s Scholar and placed 4th internationally for the Voice of Democracy speech competition. She is also an Eagle Scout and name the Elks Most Valuable Student. Zoe serves as the student body Vice President and is an NHS volunteer coordinator. She participates in FBLA and is also on the Indoor and Outdoor Track team.
In her free time Zoe enjoys playing the piano, violin and running. She is also a piano instructor to 15 students, something she loves and is passionate about.
