(Fremont County, WY) – The League of Women Voters of Fremont County (LWVFC), along with the Fremont County Republican Party, the Republican Women of Fremont County PAC, and the Fremont County Democratic Party, are hosting Candidate Forums in Shoshoni, Dubois, and Lander to provide voters with the opportunity to hear from candidates in the contested 2024 Republican Primary races for Wyoming House, Wyoming Senate, and the County Commission.
The main goal of these forums is to provide all candidates with the opportunity to share their ideas on important topics relevant to Fremont County citizens so voters can make informed decisions at the ballot box.
The LWVFC has learned that several candidates oppose these forums and choose not to attend. By doing so, they are limiting voters’ information and our democratic process.
The League’s mission is to empower voters and defend democracy. They work towards a
democracy where every person has the desire, right, knowledge, and confidence to participate. Their candidate forums and Voter Guides are the primary tools they provide for public election education.
A well-informed electorate is crucial for our democracy. The League urges candidates like Pepper Ottman, Tim Salazar, Joel Guggenmos, and Tina Clifford (including Sarah Penn in the General Election) to honor Fremont County voters by participating in these forums. Their participation will help promote a fair and open exchange of ideas.
