(Sublette County, WY) – Idaho Falls man Jonathan Bailey and his dog, Wrigley, have been “located alive and are safe” after a weeklong search, according to an update from the Tip Top Search and Rescue Facebook page, shared Friday afternoon, September 11.
Today marked the 7th day of the search for the pair, who had set out from Elkhart Park toward 1000 Island Lake in the Wind River Range and were later reported missing after failing to meet with family at the chosen rendezvous point.
“Search and rescue missions in the Wind River Range can involve vast distances, rugged terrain, rapidly changing weather, and limited communications,” today’s update states. “Each successful outcome is a reminder of the skill, commitment, and countless volunteer hours given by the men and women of Tip Top Search and Rescue.”
“We also want to thank the members of the public who shared Jonathan’s information, kept an eye out along the trails, and provided information during the search. In a backcountry search, even a seemingly small piece of information can make a difference. Most importantly, tonight Jonathan gets to go home — and Wrigley does too.”
