(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton Police Department (RPD) responded to and arrested a man “firing a gun into the air” early Saturday morning, March 22, according to RPD Chief Eric Hurtado.
County 10 received a tip this morning that law enforcement had been in the 800 block on South Federal around 7:40 AM with their guns drawn while addressing the scene.
Scanner traffic archive reports advised of a male subject who “pulled out a handgun pistol and was shooting in the air.”
“A 28-year-old man was arrested after witnesses reported him standing outside Pit Stop on South Federal and firing a gun into the air,” Chief Hurtado shared.
Officers arrived and arrested the subject without further incident, Chief Hurtado advised, and law enforcement is now investigating the incident.
No one was injured, and a handgun and an empty shell casing were recovered at the scene.
“The man was charged with discharging a firearm in city limits,” Chief Hurtado added. “The motive is unknown at this time.”
