Maverik Inc. has released a brief statement Thursday afternoon regarding the fuel leak situation with their fueling station at their 135 E Main St. location.
On April 2nd, crews from Lander were dispatched to a section of the Popo Agie River near Main Street, and between 1st Street and Caring Way, for a report of a fuel leak.
On April 12th, the Department of Environmental Quality cited the Maverik gas station for “failure to make the necessary repairs to prevent overfilling the unleaded gasoline tanks.”

On April 2, Maverik was notified of a fuel release at our convenience store in Lander, WY. Since that time, we have been working closely with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality to capture any released fuel and to prevent any future incidents. (The U.S. EPA has been leading the work at the site in coordination with the WY DEQ.)
Maverik is fully committed to taking care of the current situation and to ensure there are no future fuel releases. To this end, we are developing a work plan with the Wyoming DEQ, which includes any improvements or necessary repairs to ensure all fuel equipment is properly functioning before we re-open the fuel pumps. We are also working with the U.S. EPA and the Wyoming DEQ to clean up the current fuel release. Maverik is a part of Lander and Wyoming and understands the importance of taking care of our shared community.
