At the City of Lander’s regular council meeting on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, Mayor Monte Richardson proclaimed Tuesday, December 17, 2024, as Margaret Appleby Day, coinciding with her 90th birthday. Margaret “Maggie” Appleby was in attendance, surrounded by her friends and family, and expressed her gratitude for the honor.
In recognition of Maggie’s extraordinary contributions to the community, Mayor Richardson encourages all citizens to celebrate her legacy by performing an act of service in her honor on December 17th.

PROCLAMATION IN RECOGNITION OF MARGARET APPLEBY DAY
WHEREAS, Margaret Appleby, a beloved member of our community, will celebrate her 90th birthday on December 17, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Margaret has dedicated countless hours to volunteering, making significant contributions to the well-being of our city through her selfless service, unwavering commitment, and inspiring spirit; and
WHEREAS, her involvement in numerous community organizations, events, and initiatives has enriched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on residents of all ages; and
WHEREAS, Margaret’s kindness, generosity, and dedication have set a remarkable example of what it means to give back to one’s community, embodying the values of compassion, leadership, and civic responsibility; and
WHEREAS, her legacy of volunteerism and service has made Lander a better place for all who live, work, and visit here; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lander wishes to express its deepest appreciation for Margaret Appleby’s decades of dedication and to celebrate her extraordinary contributions;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Monte Richardson, Mayor of Lander, Wyoming, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, December 17, 2024, as “Margaret Appleby Day” in honor of her 90th birthday. I encourage all citizens to join in honoring her exceptional service to our community by performing an act of service in her honor.
