Reed McFadden paced the Lander Tigers with three gold medals at the Class 3-A state championships last weekend at Kelly Walsh. The Princeton-bound senior cleared 14-4 to win the high jump then swept both hurdle events before finishing third in the 200-meter dash. It was a fitting end to an injury-plagued senior year for the talented athlete.
Freshman Brooks Even was sixth in the pole vault with the best height of his promising career at 12-6.
Joining McFadden on the awards stand were Tiger juniors Brayden Johnson-Baker and Cade Hallock who finished seventh and eighth in the 400-meter dash.
The Tigers placed in three of the four relays as well.
The team of Hallock, Johnson-Baker, Cody West, and Graham Robison was fourth in the 4×400 meter relay in 3:35.62.
The 4×800 meter relay team of Robison, Logan Milek, Mack White, and Bennett Hutchison was fifth in 8:53.67 as was the sprint medley relay team of Hallick, Johnson-Baker, Robison, and Ray Gribowskas in 3:46.83.
Gribowskas was eighth in the triple with a leap of 41-7.
The Tigers finished seventh overall with 60 team points.
