(Lander, WY) – Daniel McLane, a dedicated educator and advocate for public education, is excited to announce his candidacy for the Fremont County School District Number One (FCSD #1) Board of Trustees.
With a strong commitment to preserving and enhancing the district’s stellar reputation, McLane is eager to contribute his expertise to ensure that FCSD #1 continues to provide exceptional learning opportunities for every student.

McLane’s vision for the district includes empowering teachers by trusting their expertise and understanding of student needs. He advocates for adequately staffing classrooms with qualified teachers and paraeducators to provide the support necessary for student success.
Additionally, McLane believes in actively involving parents in discussions about their children’s education and preparing them for the future. By ensuring that every student feels heard, valued, and supported, he aims to create a safe and welcoming school environment.
As a prospective school board member, McLane is committed to making decisions based on research, best practices, and a deep understanding of what fosters a thriving school environment. He promises to seek answers when necessary, engage in open dialogue to resolve disagreements, and respond to students’ needs with dedication and empathy.
Born and raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming, McLane and his wife moved to Lander in 2019 to be closer to her family. He has since taught in Fort Washakie and currently serves as a concurrent enrollment teacher in government, psychology, and computer science in Fremont School District #25. His family is deeply invested in the Lander community, and McLane is dedicated to ensuring equal access to quality education for all students.
McLane believes that it takes a village to raise children and sees his role on the school board as a crucial part of that village. With a focus on parent engagement, staff collaboration, and student-centered goals, he is committed to preserving and enhancing Lander’s vibrant learning community for future generations.
