(Lander, WY) – It was tough sledding for wrestlers from Riverton, Lander, Wyoming Indian, and Wind River at the Tiger Invitational Tournament last weekend in Lander. It was a huge meet with 27 teams, including Thunder Ridge High School from Idaho Falls. Cody won the tournament with 216.5 points, edging second-place Green River with 207.5.
Three Wolverines placed, two Tigers, and Ben Niedo of Wyoming Indian at 285 pounds and Wind River’s Isaiah Remacle at 175.
The highest county finish came from Riverton’s Weston McLaughlin with a third-place finish at 175 pounds.
Other medalists were Garrett Withrow, sixth at 106, and Daniel Clawson, fourth at 285, for Riverton.
Noah Irvine was fifth at 126, Wyatt Holloway was also sixth at 132, and Cody West was also fifth at 175 pounds for the host Lander Tigers.
The annual Ron Thon brings a bevy of Wrestlers to the junior varsity and varsity competition, with the boys starting Friday after the girls portion of the event on Thursday.
