Her fondest memories are of playing outside with her siblings, sledding through the snow, and building snow forts during those long East Coast winters. She also recalls spending time in the kitchen helping her mom—breaking bread for stuffing and peeling potatoes, learning the importance of family meals and togetherness.
Ann Marie remembers the popular fads of the time as a young girl. Short pixie haircuts were all the rage, along with short pants and plenty of ruffles on her clothing. Her childhood was a colorful mix of playful fashion and outdoor fun, filled with laughter and sibling mischief.
One of her more mischievous memories involves bringing ice cream home from the store without paying for it—an innocent mistake that came from thinking her siblings always handled the bill. When asked for her life advice, Ann Marie keeps it simple yet profound: “Be nice, be thankful for what you have, and be thankful for what you can do for others.” It’s advice she lives by every day, always showing gratitude and kindness to those around her.
Wyoming: A Friendly Place to Call Home
In 1988, Ann Marie moved to Lander, Wyoming, at the age of 29. She loves the friendly people and the wide-open spaces of Wyoming, where there’s always a sense of community. For Ann Marie, Wyoming is not only home—it’s a place where she found peace and warmth among the welcoming smiles.
Christmas Magic
Ann Marie’s favorite holiday is Christmas, and for her, it’s not just about the gifts, but the spirit of joy that fills the season. She loves shopping for her family and friends, admiring the festive lights, and seeing everyone in high spirits. One Christmas, in 1973, stands out above all others—that’s the year she received her beloved Boston Terrier, Sunny. The memory of Sunny still brings a smile to her face.
Proud Accomplishments and Future Wishes
Ann Marie is particularly proud of her personal accomplishment of losing weight and keeping it off, a testament to her determination and perseverance. If she could have three wishes, she’d love to win the lottery, buy a new bus for Westward Heights, walk again, and drive. Her wishes reflect her desire to contribute to the community and continue to live life to the fullest.

Ann Marie is a shining example of gratitude and appreciation. She loves Westward Heights Care Center and has nothing but kind words for the staff. “The workers are nice, and everyone has smiles on their faces,” she says. “They bend over backward for you, and the food is delicious too.” For Ann Marie, Westward Heights is not just a place to live—it’s a community where kindness and care are at the heart of everything.
Ann Marie’s family is also grateful for Westward Heights and the caring staff.
“We love Westward Heights and all they’ve done for Ann Marie. Not only do they take great care of their residents, but they go above and beyond to take care of those visiting as well. They understand the residents are “hosting” when family comes to visit and they make sure the residents can treat their guests to ice cream, fresh popped popcorn, cocoa, etc,” states Ann Marie’s niece, Ally. “The staff goes above and beyond. Ann is always referring to them as her “best friends”. They garden with their residents, take them on excursions to get them out and about, and offer daily activities. They host bake sales, cookouts, trunk-or-treats to get the community involved. We know Ann Marie is in great hands at Westward Heights!”

Whether she’s coloring, watching hockey, playing games, or spending time with family and friends, Ann Marie approaches life with enthusiasm and joy. Her favorite saying, “Slow down and take it easy,” serves as a reminder to embrace the present moment and appreciate the little things.
