Dr. Foster’s journey to medicine began in an unexpected place—while teaching at a pediatric psychiatric hospital. With a background in psychology, he quickly realized how deeply mental and physical health are connected. “Family medicine felt like the crossroads of both,” he explains. “It allowed me to treat the whole person while building long-term relationships with patients.”
A Passion for Obstetrics
During his residency with the University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency in Casper, Dr. Foster discovered an even deeper calling in obstetrics. “What drew me in was the continuity,” he shares. “I wasn’t just there for the pregnancy and delivery. I was often the mother’s doctor afterward, and even the newborn’s doctor. That kind of connection is incredible.”
For Dr. Foster, obstetrics is both humbling and fascinating. “The uterus is the most interesting organ in the human body. What it can do is nothing short of incredible.”
Patient-Centered Care
When asked what he wants women in Fremont County to know about him as an OB doctor, Dr. Foster emphasizes compassion and listening: “I want people to know that I am open-minded, a good listener, and care as much about their experience as their health.”
That approach extends to all aspects of his family practice. He often cares for patients managing chronic conditions such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, musculoskeletal issues, and autoimmune disorders. His bedside manner is built around patience and partnership: “The best treatment is one that the patient will maintain. That requires time, familiarity, and trust.”
Trust, he says, is rooted in consistency. “I keep my word and follow through. Every patient, regardless of background, deserves respect and time from me.”
Most Rewarding Moments
Though medicine is complex and challenging, Dr. Foster says the most rewarding part of his work is simple: “Seeing a healthy baby and mom smiling and bonding after delivery.”
He also takes pride in helping patients navigate chronic health concerns, easing the burden on both their physical and mental well-being. “Better health is a team effort,” he advises. “You should never be afraid to bring something up with your doctor.”
Life in Wyoming
Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Foster spent part of his childhood on a horse ranch before moving to city life. A backpacking trip to Wyoming’s Wind River Range more than a decade ago changed everything. “I fell in love with the place and promised myself I’d come back—not just to live here, but with a set of skills I could use to help leave the place better than I found it.”
Today, he’s fulfilling that promise. Outside of medicine, Dr. Foster enjoys fly-fishing, hiking, backpacking, music, and woodworking projects. He and his wife, Corre, who grew up in a small town in Mississippi, are excited to call Wyoming home.
