Lander Medical Clinic and Western Family Care are thrilled to welcome Kasandra (Kassi) Kister, PA-C, to the team! A Riverton native, Kassi is excited to return to her hometown to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.
Kassi’s journey into healthcare began early, inspired by a deep desire to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
“I was interested in medicine because it offers the opportunity to use evidence-based techniques to help people live healthier and more enjoyable lives,” Kassi stated.
She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Wyoming, earning a degree in physiology, before gaining hands-on experience as a certified nursing assistant in a hospice home. Her passion for patient care only grew stronger during a semester abroad in Spain, where she volunteered with patients with disabilities.
She went on to earn her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Idaho State University, training across eight specialties with a focus on rural healthcare in the Mountain West region.
“I was drawn to the collaborative nature of the physician assistant role. It allows me to combine my interests in science and medicine to help people improve their quality of life, while also working closely with a team of healthcare professionals,” said Kassi. “Many people are unfamiliar with the role of a PA. While I am not a physician, I am trained to diagnose and treat many medical issues independently. When necessary, I collaborate with physicians, PAs, and NPs to ensure the best possible care for my patients.”
With a particular interest in preventive care and chronic disease management, Kassi is dedicated to improving access to quality healthcare in smaller communities like Riverton. She specializes in managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, COPD, and sleep apnea, as well as treating acute issues like respiratory infections and abdominal pain.
Kassi’s approach to medicine is kind, deliberate, and patient-centered. She strives to ensure that her patients feel heard and supported throughout their healthcare journey.
“I love building relationships with my patients and helping them make informed decisions about their health,” Kassi shares. “Seeing the positive impact of those decisions on their quality of life is deeply fulfilling.”
Returning to Riverton to practice medicine was a natural choice for Kassi. “I have a deep connection to this community,” she says. “Joining Lander Medical Clinic & Western Family Care allows me to give back to the people who helped shape me.” She’s also drawn to the team-oriented environment, where providers collaborate to offer the best care possible.
“Lander Medical Clinic and Western Family Care are special because of the excellent team of professionals who work here,” said Kassi. “The collaboration and support among the staff make it a great environment for both providers and patients.”
When she’s not working, Kassi enjoys spending time outdoors, running, swimming, and reading.
