(Dubois, WY) – The Boys & Girls Club of Dubois is excited to announce that Michael Franzese, former mob figure turned motivational speaker, will serve as the featured speaker at the 7th Annual Awards & Recognition Breakfast on Wednesday, June 24.
Michael Franzese grew up as the son of the underboss of New York’s notorious Colombo crime family and rose to become one of the most powerful figures in organized crime. At the height of his career, he was generating an estimated $5 to $8 million per week and was named by Vanity Fair as one of the biggest money earners since Al Capone. In 1986, Fortune Magazine ranked him #18 on its list of the “Fifty Most Wealthy and Powerful Mafia Bosses,” just behind John Gotti.
His life took a dramatic turn after meeting Camille Garcia, whose faith and influence led him to walk away from the mob, a move few believed possible. Today, Franzese shares his story of transformation, redemption, and second chances, speaking to audiences across the country about the power of change and personal responsibility.
This year’s event will honor Marylou Bowles-Banks for her lifelong commitment to youth and the Dubois community. A founding leader of Dubois Youth Activities, Marylou helped establish what would become the Boys & Girls Club of Dubois, creating opportunities for generations of local youth to learn, grow, and succeed.
The breakfast will be held at the National Museum of Military Vehicles. Doors open at 6:15 a.m., breakfast is served at 6:30 a.m., and the program begins at 7:00 a.m. There is no cost to attend, but guests are asked to make a meaningful contribution to support the Club’s work.
