(Lander, WY) – Local election officials said almost 19 percent of Fremont County’s registered voters had cast ballots at local polling stations before noon on Tuesday.
The total (3,273) includes 1,434 ballots cast in Riverton, 1,042 in Lander, and 253 in Dubois, according to Fremont County Clerk Julie Freese.
In addition, Chief Deputy Clerk Margy Irvine said their office had received 3,398 early absentee ballots as of 5 p.m. Monday.
Of that total, Irvine said 1,725 were from voters who cast their ballots early in person at the office.
Heading into Election Day, Freese said 17,547 people were registered to vote in Fremont County – but that number will go up throughout the day as people register at the polls.
As of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Freese said 146 people had already registered at the polls.
The process doesn’t seem to be holding up any lines, she noted, but some polling places have experienced issues with power outages and printer malfunctions.
The power issues had been addressed by mid-morning Tuesday, she said, and she expressed confidence that the printer problems would be solved shortly.
Local residents can vote at any of Fremont County’s vote centers, including:
- the Bob Carey Memorial Fieldhouse, 350 Baldwin Creek Rd. in Lander
- the Fremont Center, 1010 Fairgrounds Drive in Riverton
- the Arapahoe Administration Building Multi-Purpose Room at 445 Little Wind River Bottom Road in Arapahoe
- the Wyoming Indian High School Gym at 638 Blue Sky Highway in Ethete
- the Kinnear Fire Hall at 1152 U.S. Highway 26 in Kinnear
- the Fort Washakie High School Gym at 90 Ethete Road in Fort Washakie
- the Shoshoni Senior Center, 214 E. Second St. in Shoshoni
- the Headwaters Arts and Conference Center at 20 Stalnaker Street in Dubois
The polls close at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
