A Brooklyn, New York-based group, Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty, is pushing for the repeal of the death penalty in Wyoming.
According to a Casper Star-Tribune report, the organization formed in Montana in 2013 and attended a Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington D.C. The group stated they were concerned with the GOP’s “inconsistent stances on issues like abortion versus the death penalty.”
A bill that would have repealed the death penalty in Wyoming passed the Wyoming House during the 2018 Legislative Session, however, it failed to pass the Senate.
National Manager for Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty, Hannah Cox, said the group was surprised a red state like Wyoming would come as close as they did to repealing the death penalty.
