“Supaman” is an Apsáalooke rapper and fancy dancer.
He has gained fame exponentially over the last several years, starting a hip-hop group called Rezawrecktion in 2003. In 2005, the group won a Native American Music Award.
He’s performed as a solo act for the last several years with four studio albums. He’s also appeared on ‘America’s Got Talent,’ and at the ‘Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.’
He also performed at the Wyoming Native American Conference in Riverton in 2016.
Supaman, whose real name is Christian, grew up a child of struggling alcoholic parents. He spent part of his youth in foster care, before eventually being raised by solely his mother. He began his DJ career in the 1990s.
Christian now speaks and performs at schools across the county, helping to educate students on Native American history and culture and warning of the dangers of substance abuse.
Riverton High School and Riverton Middle School students watched a performance Thursday morning at Wolverine Gymnasium.
The community is invited to a Pow Wow at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening at RHS.
