(Dubois, WY) – The Boys & Girls Club of Dubois will host its 6th Annual Awards & Recognition Breakfast on Wednesday, June 11, at the National Museum of Military Vehicles.
Guests will experience a powerful on-stage conversation featuring Anthony Robles, NCAA Wrestling Champion and internationally known speaker, with a special on-stage moment alongside Dubois’ own Sammie Cyrus, a newly crowned state wrestling champion.
Though brief, Sammie’s time on stage with Anthony will highlight a shared message of perseverance, mental toughness, and overcoming adversity—with both national and local voices offering insight into what it truly means to rise above challenges.
Sammie Cyrus, a senior at Dubois High School, recently made history by winning the Class 2A 106-pound division at the 2025 Wyoming State Wrestling Championship in Casper. A double-amputee due to a rare childhood illness, Sammie capped off his wrestling career with over 100 wins and a 25-7 season record, securing the state title by pinning his opponent in the finals. His voice offers a firsthand perspective shaped by grit, hard work, and a refusal to be defined by limitations.
Anthony Robles, born with one leg and best known for becoming a three-time NCAA All-American and the 2011 NCAA Champion at 125 pounds for Arizona State University. His remarkable story has earned him two ESPY Awards, including the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance, a spot on the President’s Council on Fitness, and induction into both the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Arizona Sports Hall of Fame. Today, he is a bestselling author, Guinness World Record holder, ESPN analyst, and the subject of an Amazon Prime film produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, Unstoppable.
The Club’s event will honor Carolyn Gillette, a founding force behind youth programming in Dubois. Carolyn played a pivotal role in creating Dubois Youth Activities, which led to the formation of the Boys & Girls Club of Dubois. Her decades of work in education, outdoor leadership, and community service have left a lasting legacy for Wyoming’s youth.
Doors open at 6:15 a.m., breakfast is served at 6:30 a.m., and the program begins at 7:00 a.m. There is no cost to attend, but guests will be invited to make a meaningful contribution in support of the Boys & Girls Club of Dubois, which operates on an annual budget of $206,255.
