The Riverton City Council will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, in the Council Chambers at Riverton City Hall, 816 N. Federal Blvd.
The agenda begins with the administration of the oath of office for a new Community Service Officer.
The consent agenda for the evening includes two open container permit applications, from:
-Livestock Liquor for the Friday Night Cruise at 4 p.m. Friday, July 19, in the 100 block of South Seventh Street East
-Inberg-Miller Engineers for a company picnic 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, at Jaycee Park
The council will also hear reports from entities that have received local economic development funding.
A public hearing will be held before the council considers approving a fireworks permit application from the Riverton Rendezvous Balloon Committee for Saturday, July 20.
Another public hearing will take place before the council considers approving an ordinance on first reading regarding “department heads hiring concurrence.”
Staff said the ordinance “would provide for the City Administrator to make the selection of Department Heads, subject to the consent and approval of the city council.”
Currently, the council has “the sole authority to select and appoint department heads,” staff noted.
Finally, the council will consider approving new economic development funding agreements with Child Development Services of Fremont County and Java Java Espresso.
The council already approved the original agreements in May, staff said, but the funding recipients have since requested “a change to the language.”
An executive session will be held if needed before adjournment.
Tuesday’s meeting will be preceded by a 6:45 p.m. Finance Committee meeting in the same location.
