(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton Police Department welcomed two new members to its ranks this week: Community Service Office Josiah Divers and Dispatcher Afton Ortiz.
Both are lifelong residents of Fremont County, RPD Chief Eric Hurtado said.
Before coming to the RPD, Divers was a substance abuse technician at the local White Buffalo Recovery Center, where Hurtado said he “served our community” by assisting people struggling with addiction.
Divers has also served as a security supervisor for the Wind River Hotel and Casino, but Hurtado said “he’s always wanted to be in law enforcement.”
“We look forward to having him test and soon promote to police officer,” Hurtado said. “But first we’ll do the first step of Community Service Officer.”
Ortiz was born and raised in Riverton, Hurtado said, and before joining the RPD she worked for the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services.
“She loves coaching high school students and likes focusing on workplace communication,” Hurtado said. “She’s excited and honored to join our police dispatch team.”
