Twin River Studios, in partnership with the Dubois Branch Library and the National Museum of Military Vehicles will host a special “excerpt” screening with 20 minutes of the documentary film Crossing The Threshold, paired with a community conversation as part of the America 250 commemorations, bringing veterans, military families, and the local community together to reflect on service, homecoming, and healing.
The program will be held Wednesday, September 30, at 6 p.m. in the USS Wyoming Room of the Poolaw Building at the National Museum of Military Vehicles, 6419 US-26, Dubois.
Directed by Heartland Emmy-winning filmmaker Sophie Barksdale, Crossing The Threshold is a forthcoming feature documentary exploring the experiences of veterans across rural Wyoming as they navigate the complex realities of returning home after military service. Through intimate storytelling, the film creates space for conversations around identity, reintegration, mental health, community connection, and the lasting impacts of war.
The excerpt screening will offer audiences an early look at scenes from the documentary-in-progress, followed by facilitated discussions with members of the filmmaking team, participating veterans, local veterans and community partners.
Wyoming has one of the highest proportions of veterans in the nation, yet opportunities for open community dialogue around the transition from military to civilian life remain limited, particularly in rural areas. With Crossing the Threshold, the filmmaking team aims to foster connection and highlight the importance of storytelling in community healing.
