(Wyoming) – It has nearly been 20 years since Chris LeDoux passed from his battle with primary sclerosing cholangitis and cholangiocarcinoma in March of 2005.
The Pro Rodeo Hall of Famer and country music icon is still remembered fondly amongst the rodeo/country community. But here in Wyoming, he’s regarded by many as a hero.
After his rodeo career concluded, LeDoux and his family settled on a ranch in Kaycee. His music career spanned 3 and a half decades, writing and recording many songs which shared his love for the Cowboy State.
Each June, the small town of Kaycee hosts “Chris LeDoux Days” bringing a variety of events and musicians to the community. One of the main attractions in town is the Chris LeDoux Memorial Park, where you can visit a statue of the icon. Directly across the street is a shop that sells “Just LeDoux It” souvenirs. It’s safe to say, his impact on Wyoming has endured.
Chris’ son, Ned has carried his father’s torch musically, releasing four studio albums and touring for many years. This week, Ned posted a fairly cryptic message on his social media pages with the caption “stay tuned.”
A few months ago, Ned introduced us to a digitally remastered duet with Chris and himself called, ‘One Hand in the Riggin.’
