(Fremont County, WY) – The newest Wyopreps.com Coaches & Media football rankings are out after week one contests gave us a small sample of what’s to come this season.
Fremont County’s lone ranked team remains the 3A Riverton Wolverines who are once again #3. Riverton is 1-1 overall with a win against Powell 31-14 in zero week and a loss to Lethbridge Collegiate Institute from Alberta, Canada in week one at Pocatello, Idaho, 21-16.
Lander lost to Jackson, 20-14 and would be 8th if you counted that far down. Star Valley is a unanimous number one, Cody is a near unanimous number two. Jackson stays put at fourth and Evanston moves into the top five after defeating Douglas.
Class 1A 9-man has a new top team. Rocky Mountain takes over the spot after a dominant win against Southeast. Pine Bluffs slips to second and Greybull is down a spot in third. Big Piney and Saratoga are also ranked, there were no local teams to receive votes.
Burlington remains on top in 6-man, the only other first place vote was cast for Little Snake River. Big Horn is nearly a unanimous top pick in 2A with one first place vote going to Mountain View high School. In 4A, there’s a new number two. Natrona County moves up from fourth, sending Cheyenne Central and Cheyenne East down a peg. Sheridan remains the clear number one in the state’s “big school” division.
