(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton City Council will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, in the Council Chambers at Riverton City Hall, 816 N. Federal Blvd.
The agenda includes an introduction and the oath of office for a new patrol officer.
The council will also select their council president and vice president and approve council committee appointments; community committee and board appointments; and municipal court judge, alternate judge, and city attorney appointments.
There are four resolutions on the agenda:
- designation of official depositories
- designation of legal newspaper
- PAWS for Life Animal Shelter fee adjustments
- Fremont County Emergency Management operations plan
A public hearing will be held before the council considers a retail liquor license transfer from Brigett and James Bunker to Luxury Liquor LLC.
The council will also consider an ordinance on third and final reading for a liquor license violation points system.
Public hearings will be held before the council considers two ordinances on first reading regarding underage persons in bars.
A memo from staff says the first ordinance clarifies existing policy, defines key terms, and more clearly outlines “the circumstances under which persons under age 21 may be present in licensed premises.”
The second ordinance also improves “clarity, consistency, and enforceability,” according to city staff, who noted that “the proposed amendments do not expand access for persons under 21 years of age, but ensure that applicable exceptions are applied uniformly.”
The council will consider a bid for a wastewater treatment plant ultraviolet and clarifier replacement project, then convene into an executive session if needed before adjournment.
Tuesday’s meeting will be preceded by a 6:45 p.m. Finance Committee meeting in the same location.
Both meetings are open to the public for in-person attendance and will be streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel, where past meeting recordings are stored.
