(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton City Council welcomed Lt. Levi Martson to the Riverton Police Department this week with an introduction and swearing-in ceremony.
Martson was born in Texas and raised in Colorado, RPD Chief Eric Hurtado said, and he started his career in information technology and construction.
Later, he joined the Arvada Police Department, where he served as an officer, sergeant, and instructor while earning a master’s degree in management and leadership, Hurtado said.
Martson then took a job as a sergeant with the Black Hawk Police Department, Hurtado said, leading that agency’s firearms and defensive tactics program.
“We welcome Lt. Martson and his family to our community and look forward to his continued leadership within the department,” the RPD said in a Facebook post.
Martson’s wife pinned his badge on his uniform before Mayor Tim Hancock administered the oath of office this week.
“Welcome aboard, lieutenant,” Hancock said after Martson had greeted the rest of the council. “We’re very glad to have you here and very glad to have your family here, too.”
