(Riverton, WY) – A new Riverton Police Department officer was sworn in Tuesday during a regular meeting of the Riverton City Council.
RPD Chief Eric Hurtado said Michael Mayfield and his fiancée recently moved to Riverton from Colville, Washington, where Mayfield began his law enforcement career six years ago.
“They’re expecting their first child – a baby girl – later on this month,” Hurtado said.
Mayfield’s hobbies include hunting, camping, and fishing, Hurtado said, and he “looks forward to getting to work and serving the community he now calls home.”
Mayor Tim Hancock thanked Mayfield for moving to town, noting that RPD recruiters have been “trying to get you to come down here for some time.”
“(We) appreciate you finally giving in,” Hancock said. “Thank you for being here, (and) welcome aboard.”
