(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton Police Department welcomed a new member to the team this week with the swearing-in of Patrol Officer Jesse Fancher.
RPD Chief Eric Hurtado said Fancher was born and raised in Porterville, California, where he attended Monache High School and was involved in a variety of athletics including football, water polo, and wrestling.
After high school, Fancher joined the Marine Corps, Hurtado said; he then served as a firefighter for two seasons before starting to work on heavy equipment.
“We stole him from the Dodge dealership in Lander,” Hurtado joked, explaining that Fancher has “always aspired to have a career in law enforcement.”
“He’s very passionate about serving others and contributing to his community,” Hurtado said. “We’re happy to have him and his wife here tonight for the oath of office.”
Fancher’s wife pinned his badge to his uniform before Mayor Tim Hancock administered the oath of office, after which Fancher posed for photos with his family and shook hands with the Riverton City Council.
“We’re glad you guys are here,” Hancock said. “We’re excited to have you.”
