It was a challenging state championship swim meet in Laramie for the Riverton Lady Wolverines but they were in the mix, finishing eighth with a respectable 94 points. Jackson won the meet with 214, followed by Cheyenne Central.
“State was a positive experience for the team. Lily Ormand swam a PR in her 100 free with a 55.59,” Riverton head girls’ swimming coach Gretta Roth said.
Sophomore Luci Pfisterer swam well, winning third and fourth place in a pair of open events.
Riverton High School record holding diver, Addison Peart finished 10th in the one-meter dive.
“Luci Pfisterer placed third in her 200 free and fourth in the 500 free,” Roth said. “Our 200 free relay placed 4th and 400 free relay placed 6th.”
This has been a resurgent year for the Lady Wolverines with good numbers out and a bevy of returning underclassmen.
“We have a strong team that is determined to get stronger. With 12 girls qualifying for state this year we have the potential to make even bigger waves at state in years to come. We are looking forward to next year,” Roth said.
