(Laramie, WY) – A new statewide report from the University of Wyoming’s Jay Kemmerer Wyoming Outdoor Recreation, Tourism and Hospitality Institute and the Wyoming Office of Outdoor Recreation says outdoor recreation remains a major economic driver in Wyoming, supporting 16,545 jobs and contributing $2.3 billion to the state’s gross domestic product (marking a 0.5% increase from the prior year).
According to the report, hunting, shooting, and trapping ranked as Wyoming’s top outdoor recreation economic contributor at $108.9 million in 2024, followed by RVing at $89.8 million and boating and fishing at $76.3 million statewide. The report also says visitors spent $4.9 billion annually while traveling and recreating in Wyoming, generating $277 million in travel-related tax revenue.
Fremont County is listed in the report as having 98 outdoor recreation employers and 219 employees directly tied to related outdoor recreation establishments.
